What Is Through Time?

Through Time: A Journey Across Human Development is a bilingual interdisciplinary digital museum created by students and bilingual teachers of IES Dama de Marfil.

The museum invites visitors to explore the development of human societies, cultures, knowledge and ways of life from Prehistory to the Contemporary World through a unique collection of educational resources created across different subjects of the Bilingual Programme.

Through historical events, scientific discoveries, geographical phenomena, languages, literature and physical education, visitors can discover how humanity has evolved over time and how the past continues to shape the present.

Combining images, audio narrations, videos and student-created content, Through Time offers an engaging and accessible learning experience that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, cultural awareness and global citizenship.

More than a digital collection, Through Time is a space for exploration, reflection and interdisciplinary learning, where knowledge is presented through different subjects, perspectives and languages.

.

Educational Framework

Through Time has been developed as an interdisciplinary educational project within the Bilingual Programme of IES Dama de Marfil. The museum combines content from different subjects to provide students with meaningful learning experiences that connect knowledge across disciplines and encourage active participation.

The project is based on the principles of CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning), promoting the simultaneous development of subject knowledge, language competence and communication skills. Through the use of English, French and Spanish, students engage with historical, scientific, geographical, cultural and social content in authentic and meaningful contexts.

The museum also incorporates project-based learning methodologies, encouraging students to investigate, create, collaborate and communicate their findings through a variety of digital formats. Images, audio narrations, videos and written texts allow students to become active producers of knowledge rather than passive recipients of information.

Digital competence plays a central role in the project. Students develop skills related to information literacy, digital content creation, communication and responsible participation in digital environments while contributing to the museum's collections.

Through Time promotes interdisciplinary learning by establishing connections between History, Biology and Geology, English, French, Geography, Physical Education and Spanish Language and Literature. This approach helps students understand that knowledge is interconnected and that complex ideas can be explored from multiple perspectives.

The project also supports the development of key competences such as critical thinking, creativity, communication, collaboration, cultural awareness and global citizenship. By engaging with historical and contemporary issues, students are encouraged to reflect on the development of human societies and their role in today's interconnected world.

Ultimately, Through Time seeks to transform learning into an active, collaborative and meaningful experience, where students become researchers, creators and communicators while contributing to a growing educational legacy.

Participating Subjects

Through Time is an interdisciplinary museum that brings together contributions from seven subjects within the Bilingual Programme of IES Dama de Marfil.

Each subject explores human development from a different perspective, allowing students to understand the connections between knowledge, culture and society across time.

The participating subjects are:

By combining these different disciplines, Through Time offers a broader and more meaningful understanding of human development. Students are encouraged to make connections between subjects and to appreciate how knowledge from different fields contributes to our understanding of the world.

This interdisciplinary approach reflects one of the fundamental principles of the museum: learning is most meaningful when knowledge is connected rather than separated into isolated disciplines.

Accessibility and Inclusion

Through Time has been designed as an inclusive digital museum that seeks to provide meaningful learning opportunities for all visitors.

Accessibility is a fundamental principle of the project. The museum incorporates a variety of formats, including written texts, images, audio narrations and videos, allowing users to access information through different channels according to their needs and preferences.

Audio narrations play a particularly important role in improving accessibility, offering alternative ways to engage with content and supporting visitors who may benefit from auditory learning experiences. The use of clear visual design, structured navigation and multimedia resources helps create an environment that is welcoming and easy to explore.

Inclusion is also reflected in the content of the museum. Through Time presents diverse cultures, historical experiences, languages and perspectives, encouraging respect, empathy and intercultural understanding. The project promotes the idea that human development is the result of contributions from many different peoples, societies and traditions.

As the museum continues to grow, accessibility and inclusion will remain central priorities. Future contributions will seek to expand the range of resources available and ensure that the museum remains a space where all learners can participate, explore and discover.

Through Time aims to demonstrate that education is most powerful when it is accessible, inclusive and open to everyone.

The Bilingual Programme

Through Time has been developed within the framework of the Bilingual Programme of IES Dama de Marfil.

The programme promotes the integration of language learning and subject content, enabling students to develop linguistic competence while engaging with meaningful academic topics. Through the use of English, French and Spanish, students learn to communicate, investigate, collaborate and create in multilingual environments.

The museum reflects the multilingual nature of the programme by presenting content in the language in which it was created by students and bilingual teachers. This approach values linguistic diversity and highlights the role of languages as tools for communication, cultural understanding and knowledge construction.

Participation in the project allows students to apply their language skills in authentic contexts while developing confidence, creativity and intercultural awareness. The museum also provides opportunities to share student work with a wider audience and to celebrate the achievements of the bilingual educational community.

Through Time demonstrates how bilingual education can extend beyond the classroom, transforming learning into a collaborative and meaningful experience that connects languages, cultures and disciplines.

A Living Museum

Through Time is not a finished project. It is a living museum that will continue to grow and evolve through the contributions of students and bilingual teachers of IES Dama de Marfil in future school years.

Unlike traditional museums, where collections remain largely unchanged, Through Time is designed as a dynamic educational space that welcomes new perspectives, resources and discoveries year after year. Each generation of students has the opportunity to contribute to the museum by creating new content, recording audio narrations, producing videos and expanding existing collections.

This ongoing process transforms the museum into a shared educational legacy, preserving the work of students while inspiring future learners to participate in the construction of knowledge.

As the museum grows, it will become an increasingly rich representation of the creativity, effort and achievements of the Bilingual Programme. Every contribution, whether an image, an audio narration, a video or a research project, becomes part of a larger story that connects past, present and future generations of learners.

As a living project, Through Time will continue to grow through the contributions of students and bilingual teachers of IES Dama de Marfil in future school years, preserving their work and creating a lasting educational legacy for the school community.

Project Statistics

Through Time brings together a growing collection of educational resources created by students and bilingual teachers of IES Dama de Marfil.

At the time of publication, the museum includes:

These resources represent the collaborative work carried out across the Bilingual Programme and reflect the interdisciplinary nature of the project.

As a living museum, these numbers will continue to grow through future student contributions, new multimedia resources and additional educational content developed in subsequent school years.

Each new resource enriches the museum and strengthens its role as a permanent digital archive of learning, creativity and cultural exploration.
